I seriously do. I was talking to a niece and nephew about their just getting started in life, and I can see how things are stacked against them in ways much worse than when I was their age.
Itβs wild! I have discussed that exact topic with older family and friends before (as well as with my peers), but itβs difficult to do so as a young person without appearing whiny, over dramatic, or lazy.
1. I donβt use drugs, so that saves some money.
2. I give you that on the toilet paper.
3. I seem to spend between $200 and $300 a year on gas, year after year, but Iβm no dope. I drive a sedan that gets 45-50 mpg. And see #4.
4. We bought an apartment in NYC years ago, paid it off, and now live cheaply.
5. I got off all social media once I saw the pointlessness of it.

It was a glib reply. I know I am doing better than many, and I am sympathetic to their worries. I had them too when I was young.

Itβs real, not a whine. But as an older person, you have to have empathy to see it.
