A word to the wise here. Especially for the scientifically minded amongst us (e.g. me) who would often rather look at their shoes, or trace a finger down a wall than to meet a stranger’s gaze.

Absolutely! We miss so much in the mundane day-to-day grind, but we also simply CHOOSE to miss a lot to stay comfortable. Thanks for sharing.

I confess. I like to look at people. Sometimes they look back! 🙃

Emma, I used to travel all the time for work. Like all the time. On a plane almost every week. So, I became a people watcher because I spent so much time in airports. In my opinion, there is no better place to get good at people watching than an airport. The sheer variety and volume of people alone makes for fertile ground. In that I mean, I would write little imaginary micro fiction stories in my head about them. Who they were, what they did, where they were going, why are they looking sad, happy, bored, are they running FROM something or running TO something....and on and on. Makes waiting to board go by very fast, haha. Enjoyed this post very much.

Thank you for sharing. I’m glad you enjoyed my post! What a great idea - I’ll try that the next time I fly! It’s amazing how many different lives people are leading entirely unbeknownst to us. Each time I sit on a plane and chat with the random passenger next to me, I realize that. There’s a lot to learn from others.
